Upon completion of the Games, Jay was ready for a change of scenery. Having fallen in love with the city of Ottawa over many visits since his childhood, he decided to call the Nation’s Capital his home in the fall of 2010, where he eventually found a position with the University of Ottawa in recruitment. After inspiring thousands of students to pursue bilingual studies across Ontario, Quebec and B.C over three years, he took a position with the CO-OP office at the university, where he developed job opportunities for students, in addition to counselling them on their career development. Having found his passion in education and career guidance, Jay decided to go back to school to pursue a Master's degree in Counselling. He is currently in the midst of completing the program with an emphasis on career counselling.
His experiences in education, work, travel and sport ultimately led to his decision to found MentorU in 2014. He currently spends roughly 50% of his work time with students and young adults, and 50% with professionals.

Jay Gosselin believes wholeheartedly that “your 20s are for building your experience, your 30s are for building your expertise and your 40s and 50s are for building your dreams”. Uncertain of what career or academic field would most interest him upon entering university, Jay chose a degree in Economics, which eventually morphed into Economics and Political Science.
Uninspired by the career prospects in either of his two chosen fields upon graduation in 2004, he decided to take to the open sea where he worked as a Cruise Director for three years, visiting over 130 cities across 35 countries on six continents. Having given up life at sea in 2007, he decided to pursue a job working towards the success of the largest sporting event in the world – The Olympic Games. Jay worked as a Venue Manager at the Richmond Olympic Oval from 2008 until the completion of the 2010 Winter Games, and was able to witness, first hand,
Canada’s record-setting performance as well as a multitude of related events and projects.
